Guru Naman was recorded in Bangalore and was released in May 2007.

This two-CD classical album consists of a total of nine ragas.

Guru Naman (CD 1) consists of five items

  1. Raga Ahir Bhairav: Both the khayals here were composed by Jagannathbuwa Purohit “Gunidas.”  tero jiyaa sukha paave is set to vilambit Ektaal and bega bega aao mandira to drt Ektaal.

 

  1. Raga Gunakali: The compositions presented are due to Ramashreya Jha “Ramrang” – sankaTa harana deva in Jhaptaal and ajaba jogiraa in Teentaal.

 

  1. Raga Devgiri Bilawal: The drt Teentaal composition, jhananana baaje, is credited to Mahesh Narayan Saxena, whose colophon “Premrang” is heard in the text.

 

  1. Raga Brindavani Sarang: The chestnut, sagari umariyaa mori, composed by Faiyaz Khan “Prempiya” in drt Teentaal is offered.

 

  1. Raga Gopika Basant: Ramashreya Jha’s composition in Ektaal is on offer here – jaya jaya jaga jananee maatu.

 

 

 

Guru Naman (CD 2) consists of four items

 

  1. Raga Bihagda: The compositions presented are: rasiyaa mero in vilambit Ektaal by Ramashreya Jha “Ramrang” and sakhee mandaravaa in drt Ektaal by Jagannathbuwa Purohit “Gunidas.”

 

  1. Raga Hamsadhwani: The compositions offered are: laayi re taana in vilambit Roopak and Ramrang’s jaya jaya Ganapati deva in drt Teentaal.

 

  1. Raga Hemant: Both the compositions here are Ramrang’s: hamari sudha leeje set to a variation of Teentaal known as Addha, and bairana bhayo in drt Ektaal.

 

  1. Raga Shivaranjani: Laxmanprasad Jaipurwale’s composition, sumirana kara Shiva naama, in drt Ektaal is heard here.
